Root Cause Paralysis - New Post at Thwack!

I'm wrapping up my turn as a SolarWinds Ambassador with a post titled "Root Cause Paralysis." Head over a take a look, and post your thoughts in the thread.

It's been great to share some ideas with the Thwack community over these last four weeks. And the posts I've written have really made me think about what I'd like to focus on. I've hinted at it several times lately, but I'll be more overt this time: I love writing. More than technology, even. It's what I wanted to do long before I was lured into IT.

I'm clearly not keeping the #eager0 up and running for fame and fortune. It's really just an excuse to practice writing. My other blog (BIMBY | Bugs In My Back Yard) is an outlet for short-form writing and photography. I've even started posting to Soundcloud, but I'm not satisfied with that content... yet.

It's all an effort to remind myself that your profession shouldn't define you. And with that in mind, I'm slowly breaking orbit from a tech-only writing career.

New Post at Thwack! - Too Many Tools

I'm in my third week as an ambassador at Thwack, and this time I've written a post about tool sprawl: Too Many Tools. It's something I blogged about in the past (see A Hammer for Every Nail), but this time I'm looking for your feedback and discussion. So head over to Thwack, read the post, and let me know what you think.

New Post at Thwack! - Rise of the Hybrid Engineer

I've got a new post up at Thwack: Rise of the Hybrid Engineer. It's the second of four I'll post as part of my diplomatic career. For those that know me, you'll recognize the topic as something I discuss frequently, perhaps incessantly.

Anywho, head over to Thwack and check it out.

vExpert 2014!

Nice camelcase, VMware.
I figured I'd wait until the mad rush of vExpert 2014 posts was over. Now that it is...

I made the VMware vExpert 2014 list!

Faithful readers, who've been with #eager0 since post 1 in January 2013, will no doubt recall that I did not make the cut last year. And like a true optimist, I turned that disappointment into something positive. I not only made some good connections last year, but started to get more comfortable with writing this blog. I also took some professional risks last year that paid off, and now I have a much larger work environment with lots of technology to blog about fix.

Like so many others, I view the vExpert title as not merely recognition for you contributions, but motivation to do more. Seems like earning this title is the start of a journey, not the end.

Are we supposed to thank people for this award? I hope not. I'm just some guy with a blog and some VMware knowledge. But if I have to thank someone, I'll thank a good friend who taught me network magicks, then disappeared into the ether. A packet, forever lost.

Thwack Ambassador for April!

I'm honored to be an Ambassador this month over at Thwack! I've been posting there for almost a year now, so I'm very familiar with the Ambassador program. But I was surprised to get invited to be part of this group. Many thanks to Stephen Foskett for reaching out!

I'm writing in Geek Speak on systems and application monitoring. My first post went up today: Whose Fault Is It Anyway? Take a look and let me know what you think.

While this blog tends to be more lecture than conversation, I'm hoping to solicit ideas for future posts over at Thwack. I've got three more to deliver. I'd love to hear your suggestions!

If you'd prefer to continue lurking here, that's cool, too.
