Breaking out of the EC2 Jail

A few weeks back, I wrote about a project I'm working on where I'll be migrating my Minecraft server from EC2 to vCloud Air. You may be thinking that I've given up, or forgotten. Far from it.

Instead, I'm still struggling with exporting this stupid thing from EC2 in the first place. I've got a post I'm working on to explain that process, and I'll give you a preview: exporting an EC2 instance is more difficult than you can imagine. It's a process filled with command line options, security credentials, environment variables, and storage buckets. And there's a good measure of "invalid instance ID" errors that are not helpful at all.

So fear not: this project is alive and well. And it confirms the snarky observations on Twitter: checking out of this hotel is close to impossible.

Stay tuned.
